The Effects of Native Oxides on the Selective Photo-Reduction Property of Cu Nanoparticles Induced by the Localized Surface Plasmon

Copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) in air are easily oxidized into CuNPs@Cu2O core–shell structure. The localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of CuNPs can be damped seriously by the Cu2O shell. effect this native layer on LSPR-induced selective photocatalysis properties is often ignored. In paper, was explored comparison evolution photo-reduction efficiency (PRE) with nanoparticle size (d) as-deposited to that AgNPs via monitoring transformation from 4-nitrothiophenol (PNTP) 4,4 trdimercaptoazobenzene (DMAB) using enhanced Raman scattering. It found PRE increases first and then decreases increasing d, much different AgNPs: d. Based transmission electron microscope images, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, stability CuNPs, mechanisms d laser illumination time (t) were suggested. plays a dominated role when nanoparticles’ sizes small. Both play roles large, which brought low CuNPs.
